Victory through unity

Scripture Focus: “And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.” Exodus 17:11 NKJV

The victory over Amalek did not come from military might but from a combination of prayer, partnership, and obedience. While Joshua fought in the valley, Moses stood on the hill with the rod of God in his hand. As long as his hands were raised, Israel prevailed; when they dropped, Amalek gained ground. Soon, Aaron and Hur stepped in, holding Moses’ hands steady until sunset. This scene paints a powerful picture of how battles are won: intercession, leadership, and teamwork. No one could claim credit alone, Joshua fought, Moses prayed, Aaron and Hur supported. Everyone had a role, and together they secured victory.

This is how the body of Christ is meant to function. We need leaders who will lift holy hands in prayer, warriors who will engage on the ground, and helpers who will quietly strengthen weary arms. Victory is never the product of one person’s effort but the fruit of united obedience under God’s banner. That is why Moses built an altar afterward and called it “The Lord is My Banner” (Exodus 17:15). The triumph belonged to God. Likewise, in your battles, do not fight alone. Stay connected to your leaders, your church, your brothers and sisters in Christ. Lift each other’s hands when they grow heavy. Fight together, pray together, win together, for under God’s banner, Amalek always falls.

Prayer: Lord, teach me the value of unity in spiritual battles. Help me to play my part faithfully and to support others so that together we may walk in Your victory. Amen.
