when god wants your attention

Scripture Focus: “When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from
within the bush…” – Exodus 3:4
The burning bush wasn’t just a miraculous sign, it was a divine attention-grabber. Moses had
walked that wilderness many times, but this day was different. God set the bush ablaze without
consuming it, and Moses’ decision to turn aside became the doorway to his calling. It was only
after Moses looked that God spoke. In the same way, God sometimes allows unusual situations,
challenges, or interruptions to capture our focus because He has something important to say.
For some of us, the struggles we face are the very reason we seek God in prayer, go to church,
or open our Bibles. Without them, we might remain distracted and distant. God’s intention is not
to harm you through these moments, but to position you to hear Him clearly. So when
something disrupts your normal flow, don’t just complain, turn aside, lean in, and listen. The
voice you’ve been needing to hear may be waiting on the other side of your attention.
Prayer: Lord, open my heart to recognise when You are trying to get my attention. Help me to
respond with obedience. Amen.
