Scripture Focus: Genesis 19:31 to 38; Galatians 6:7 to 8
Lot lost everything, but he escaped with his two daughters. Yet even though they left Sodom, Sodom had not left them. The city’s influence was still in their hearts. Their actions after their escape revealed how deeply they had been shaped by their environment. In desperation, they committed terrible acts that led to the birth of the Moabites and Ammonites—two nations that would later become enemies of Israel.
This is a warning for every believer. Leaving a sinful place is not enough if the mindset of that place remains in you. Lot’s daughters physically escaped destruction, but spiritually, they were still bound by what they had grown up around. This is why transformation must go beyond location—it must happen in the heart. If we do not let God renew our minds, we may carry the influence of the world with us even after leaving it behind.
Prayer:
Lord, cleanse my heart from the influence of the world. Let me not just walk away from sin, but let sin also lose its grip on me. Transform my mind and make me fully Yours. Amen.
