when water turns to blood

Scripture Focus: “Take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you
take from the river will become blood on the ground.” Exodus 4:9
The Nile was Egypt’s pride and lifeline, its water gave food, trade, and wealth. But when God
told Moses to pour water on the ground and it turned into blood, He was making a statement:
even what men depend on most can become empty and powerless when God stretches out His
hand. What Egypt worshiped as life became a symbol of death. God was showing that He alone
is the source of life, and anything outside Him can fail in a moment.
This is still true today. Many people put their trust in wealth, position, or even relationships as
their “Nile.” But without God, those very things can dry up or even work against them. Only in
Christ do we find true and lasting life. Where the Nile brought judgment, Jesus brought
redemption, He turned water into wine at Cana, a picture of joy and salvation. The same God
who can turn water into blood to confront idols can also turn water into wine to bless His
children. Trust Him alone as your source.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to put my trust only in You, not in the “Niles” of this world. May
everything I depend on lead me closer to You and never take Your place in my heart. Amen.
