Scripture Focus: Genesis 16:2; Genesis 3:17
Abram listened to his wife and took Hagar, just as Adam listened to Eve and ate the
forbidden fruit (Genesis 16:2; Genesis 3:17). In both cases, they followed the advice of
someone they loved without seeking God first, and the consequences were costly. This is not
about rejecting wise counsel but about ensuring that every decision aligns with God’s will.
We often listen to voices around us; family, friends, culture, emotions, without first seeking
God’s direction. But godly wisdom requires discernment. Whether it’s career choices,
relationships, or life-altering decisions, we must always ask: What is God saying? Listening is
good, but blind agreement can lead to destruction. Love, honor, and respect the voices
around you, but let God’s voice be the final authority in your life.
Prayer: Lord, give me wisdom to discern the right voices. Help me to seek Your guidance
above all else so that my decisions align with Your perfect will. Amen.
